Liberty Print for a quilt
Gosh Christmas is nearly here again and its a long time since i last did a post.
During this time i have been busy making a quilt for each of my two granddaughters who are 7 and 9 years old.
I chose Liberty print samples from Alice Caroline,s online shop it was a bit of a chance as i hadn't a clue on what was in the bundle, but when they came i was very happy with the selection of fabric sent me.
The reason for making these quilts is that my granddaughters will one day remember that their nanny made them with love. and hopefully they will cherish them long after ive gone.

Grandsons first quilt made by granny
This quilt was made by me with love for my little grandson Dylan .
I chose the bright primary colour to stimulate his sensory development.
I was lucky enough to buy the printed squares already cut up from a local quilt exhibition. The plain i bought from the cheap shop in Tiptree Essex where they have a great selection of fabrics.
The backing fabric i bought brand new from a boot sale in the summer for a £1, its surprising just what you find .
I used my new sewing machine for putting the pieces together then hand stitched in the ditch to finish it off
Dylan looks happy with his quilt.
Florence our cat certainly likes the quilt.

Dolly Peg Christmas Fairies
I made these fairies after seeing similar ones in my December Country Living magazine .
I adapted them to my own design using bits of Christmas trimmings that i had laying around in my craft room.
To display them i used my old practise hairdressing model which brought back memories when i was an apprentice hairdresser in the 60 where perms and backcombing were all the rage.
Now what do i do with nine fairies ?

My Super, Duper New Sewing Machine
Ive just bought myself this new Janome sewing machine and i can tell you, I Love It.
Up until now i have used an old singer machine which was very basic, but did the trick at the time.
So now i have more time on my hands and want to be a bit more adventurous especially with my quilt making this is why i chose this particular machine.
It is fully computerised and does everything, with 402 stitches including numbers and the alphabet to choose from .
It also includes a quilting accessory kit as an extra which i will be using in my quilt and patchwork projects.
Just right for those long, cold, winter days and nights we will shortly be going into.

Motor Home Quilts with a history
I have just finished these two quilts for our motor home .
Most of the fabric i used was recycled, which included some Laura Ashley 60s curtain material and an old duvet cover that was my sons when he was a child . He is now nearly forty.
I love the idea of making something from nothing just like they did years ago when quilts were made from used fabric which to me has a history to it.
The pattern i used for the blocks was called A Nine Patch. I pieced it together using my sewing machine and finished off by hand sewing in the ditch to bring out the pattern of the blocks.

Miniature dolls under the macro lens.
A while back i bought these lovely little hand made miniature dolls from a junk shop in Suffolk. They are beautifully worked in the most tiniest stitches which would have taken a lot of skill and patience to make.
Lucky for me i found them and they now take pride of place in my dolls house.
To give you an idea of the size i have take the image in the palm of my hand and if you click twice on the photos you will see more clearly how they have been stitched together.

A visual view from the eye of my lens..
Its surprising what you see when walking on the coastal path in rural Norfolk.
Not a car insight only piece and quiet and pure beauty.
Difficult to find these days!
A place to go to get way from it all.
