Messing around with the macro

Today i thought i would get my macro lens out and have a go at taking some photos close up.

I chose these crocheted small circles which magnify their texture and colour.

Magnified buttons in a glass jar
 A detailed piece of tatting
Its surprising just how great buttons look when magnified

No crochet tonight as Florence is using it for a sleeping blanket
Just look at my two girls ! I just love them to bits
Ruby loves to be with her dad......xx

My visit to London to see the poppies

Last Saturday my daughter and i went to the Tower of London to see the poppies and we were not disappointed. It was very moving to think each one represented a soldier which was killed in the war fighting for their queen and country.
We both ordered one of the china poppies which we hope to get sometime next year.

While we were there we also took in a few of the sights.

What a Week?

I've had a worrying time just lately
My VW car (only 4 years old ) was found with engine problems and is still in the garage after 2 weeks and still no joy.

The heating system packed up after a plumber/ heating engineer,  completely brought the whole system to a stand still leaving us with no hot water, heating or cooker hopefully it will all be sorted out soon, but at a cost as we have had to get another firm in to put his mistakes right. Thankfully the weather had been mild so far. And on top of that we had to get the bee man out as we had a wasps nest in the loft.

Just keeping my fingers crossed that nothing else happens.

To keep the frustration at bay i found keeping myself busy with the things i enjoy doing best a great help here are some of the activities i have been up to this week.

Here is a water colour of Mr Cockerel which i did on Friday . i feel that engaging in any form of art work is excellent therapy for me.

I was lucky to see this rainbow and took the image in my garden. Its the first time i have managed to capture one.

Getting ready for Halloween

Yesterday i was lucky enough to attend the annual U3A                get together where i made this lovely fairy.
You can see that her arms and legs were made with shirt buttons
Not sure about the face though

Ahh i am feeling much better now i have shared this post ,with you all  As they say
A problem shared is a problem halved .....XX

Little Things Mean a Lot.....xx

I just love making things for my two small granddaughters.
They are 6 and 4 years old and the most precious thing in my life.

They live in London so i don't get see them as much as i would like to. Its not the distance, but that dreaded M25 which i hate with a
passion.
So when i do get to see them i like to spoil them as grandparents like to do !!!!!

As they are very girlie i thought they would like these little bags.

The pattern is out of Omiyage a Japanese handmade gift book.

The fabric i bought from my local boot sale and just right for their age group.
With sound advise from my daughter i am going to fill them with bling, she said its the sort of thing little girls like.

I'm sure she is right after all she was a little girl once...........

Morning Glory

As i walked down my garden this morning to feed the chickens i had this great feeling of being alive. A warm feeling that Autumn was in the air leaving summer behind until next year.

I don't know about you, but i love this time of the year especially the early mornings like today, where a mist was hovering around the garden leaving a heavy dew in its path.

I think the robin must have felt the same to as it was extra vocal than usual and  followed me around the garden as i took photos of spiders webs that were spun earlier hoping to catch  something nice and juicy for breakfast.

I grew this Morning Glory for the first time this year. It was one of my dads favourite flowers which he grew every year until his death.
Here is the robin keeping his beady eye on me.

I love how the beads of dew have formed on the spiders webs

my spider plants grow well in broken flower pots.

I think the spider is so clever to spin such beauty......xx
